About the Brand


Founded in 2005, TrueModern strives to create modern, minimalist furniture at an affordable price. As a modern parent myself, I was bored with the kids' furniture designs in today's market. TrueModern's first line of kids' furniture is designed to be simple, functional and safe. The color scheme uses familiar colors with a modern twist for an updated feel. All of our furniture and bedding has been tested to meet or exceed all American safety standards and the quality is guaranteed.

Edgar Blazona, Founder, CEO Edgar Blazona brings more than 14 years of furniture design and manufacturing experience to TrueModern. His deep knowledge of manufacturing, understanding of materials and the modernist aesthetic are the driving force behind TrueModern. Edgar has held senior design and creative positions at Williams Sonoma, Modular Dwellings, Thinc and the design firm 1994.

Praised for its clean lines and impeccable workmanship, Edgar's work is showcased in galleries, hotels and private collections worldwide including Sweden's Ice Hotel, San Franciscos Limn Gallery and Bergamont Station Arts Center in Los Angeles. Edgar and his designs have been featured in Vogue, Dwell, Paper, Ready Made and Metropolitan Home.

The Dane bed is a spin off from our most popular Dane sofa collection. Not only will this platform bed look great in your modern bedroom, it's comfy as well. The Danish inspired design sits well in not only mid-century styled homes but due to its simplicity, is a nice compliment to any modernist style. Lean back and read a book on the padded and upholstered headboard. The stitching on the entire bed is done with a European top stitch. This same stitch is used to create a cross pattern across the entire headboard. The mattress sits on top of plywood bunkie boards designed specifically for platform beds. The legs are made of your choice of solid walnut wood, Honey Alder wood, or Espresso color on Alder wood. This collection comes in 6 standard colors including Chocolate, Dolphin Grey, Mouse (khaki grey), Ivory, Charcoal, and Wheat grass and is available to fit all the various mattress sizes.
